Music Vault released Aerosmith‘s full two-hour set from Woodstock ’94 on YouTube Thursday, adding to the company’s growing archive of classic concert videos. Watch the full rain-drenched concert in the video above.

Boasting sharper audio and video than existing bootlegs – and stripping away the voice-overs, title overlays and other elements of Woodstock’s TV broadcast – this video stands as the definitive version of the band’s performance at the iconic festival.

According to a review from the Boston Globe, the performance almost didn’t take place after backstage tension between the band and festival organizers erupted in violence, which nearly derailed the concert before it even started. Aerosmith’s manager Tim Collins called Woodstock promoter John Scher a “liar” over allegedly breaking promises to the band concerning their stage setup.

Aerosmith felt Woodstock management had given in toMetallica‘s demands for special effects, while failing to similarly accommodate them. This disagreement escalated to fisticuffs between Collins and Scher, who Aerosmith bodyguards had to break up.

Despite the backstage brawling, the show still went on. Kicking off at 1:45 a.m. and enduring torrential downpours, the performance was described by theGlobe as “a metallic meltdown of a set” and “the best” performance of that day, which also included performances by Joe Cocker, Nine Inch Nails;Crosby, Stills, & Nash; and the aforementioned Metallica. The set is also notable for including the band’s cover of the Beatles’ “Come Together”, which today is a common setlist inclusion but at the time was considered “a song they don’t usually play anymore”.
